Obituary
Stanislav Navrátil
On 11th July 2019, Professor Stanislav Navrátil, passed away after a severe disease at the age of 65.
Upon his death, the fish health community lost an outstanding scientist and specialist, an excellent teacher to his students and a wonderful human being to his family members and colleagues. Stanislav was born on 19th April 1954 in Brno, Czech Republic. He taught at the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno. While Stanislav’s scientific interests started with fish parasitology, he gradually switched to research on the influence of abiotic and biotic factors for fish health, and of safety and food quality of fish products. He authored and co-authored more than 100 original scientific and expert papers and many texts for students. His last co-author activity, of which he was especially proud, was the textbook titled “Diseases and pathological conditions of fish”. He acted as a branch Officer of the European Association of Fish Pathologists in the Czech Republic.
Stanislav was exceptional, supporting his friends. A man everyone had nice experiences with.
We are all in deep sorrow, having to talk about Standa in the past tense while we remember him frequently.
