19th Joint meeting of the German, Austrian and Swiss EAFP branches
“Fischgesundheit im Fokus”
-Focus on Fish health-
October 9-11, 2024, Hochschule für Gestaltung, Ulm, Germany
The German Branch welcomed a total of 67 participants, arriving from Germany, Switzerland and Austria, to the traditional meeting of the German speaking EAFP branches in Ulm. The extensive scientific programme comprised 28 lectures and 20 poster presentations. Even though the main focus was on diseases of wild fish and fish in aquaculture, also topics within the area of fish immunology, nutrition and
ornamental fish were covered by excellent presentations.
The “Wilhelm-Schäperclaus-Förderpreis” was granted to 6 young scientists for best oral and poster presentations.
At the general meeting of the German EAFP branch, it was announced that the established ornamental fish working group will be continued in 2025.
The well-attended supporting programme, which included a rooftop welcome reception, a guided city tour of Ulm and an unforgettable conference dinner with live rock music, created a very pleasant atmosphere in which colleagues were able to talk extensively about the presentations and beyond.
Following the conference, quite a few participants used the opportunity for a guided tour of the “Hochschule für Gestaltung” and also went on an excursion to a salmonid fish farm and a guided visit of an impressive cave of the Swabian Alb.
