On 7 and 8 November 2024, the French branch of the branch of EAFP were held between Poligny and Lons-le-Saunier. Organised by the Laboratoire d’Analyses du Jura (LDA39), they brought together professionals with a passion for a programme full of discoveries and exchanges.

A technical day dedicated to aquaculture pathologies

Françoise Pozet, head of the LDA39’s Animal Health sector, introduced the day’s proceedings before tackling a range of topics including a variety of topics, including:

• Health news and activities of the National Reference Laboratory (LNR), by Pauline Grippon (ANSES), who highlighted advances in virology and research in 2023-2024.
• Presentation of the Santé Poissons Sauvages (ASPS) association, by Patrick Girard, who gave details of the association’s projects and activities.
• Studies on saprolegniosis, by Armand Lautraite, exploring the causes of this pathology in aquaculture.
• Histological diagnosis: benefits and examples, by Sophie Labrut (LABOCEA), illustrating the usefulness of this analysis of aquatic pathologies.
• European projects and antibiotic resistance, presented by Sandrine Baron (ANSES), highlighting the progress of the Réapol project and the use of MALDI-TOF.
• Epidemiological monitoring of CEV in koi, by Laetitia Montacq, who explained the issues and monitoring methods.
• Use of probiotics in oyster farming, by Sandrine Baron, exploring the impact of bacterial strains on microbial communities.
• Pathologies in aquaculture, by Ségolène Calvez (Oniris – INRAE), who presented the research being carried out into diseases of farmed fish.
• Study of the prevalence of Clinostomosis, in collaboration with ANSES in Boulogne sur Mer, by Françoise POZET.

This first day ended in a convivial atmosphere at the L’Hibiscus restaurant, where participants tasted a regional menu featuring fish from Jura fish farms.

The second day was spent exploring the LDA39 facilities in Poligny. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Maison du Comté and enjoy a tasting of Jura wines, hosted by Antoine Zbyrko, the laboratory’s oenologist. This moment of sharing was appreciated and the opportunity to discover the emblematic products of the Jura.

• In 2026, the French days of the EAFP will be hosted in Ploufragan, thanks to the initiative of Sandrine Baron.
