Report from the Polish EAFP Branch Meeting

REPORT FROM THE CONFERENCE “HEALTH PROBLEMS OF SEA TROUT AND SALMON SPAWNERS – THE RISK ASSESSMENT”
AND MEETING OF POLISH BRANCH OF EAFP
The conference took place on June 24, 2022, in the historical venue of Runge College of University of Life Sciences in Poznan, and was organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences of the Poznan University of Life Sciences in cooperation with the S. Sakowicz Inland Fisheries Institute, the Ichthyopathology Section of the Polish Society of Veterinary Sciences, and the Polish Branch of the European Association of Fish Pathologists (EAFP), with the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Scientists, researchers, anglers and administrative decision makers form various institutions (i.e. Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences of the Poznan University of Life Sciences, S. Sakowicz Inland Fisheries Institute, National Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Polish Angling Association, The Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Warmia and Maury in Olsztyn, National Veterinary Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) joined forces to face the problem of emerging disease syndrome in sea trout and salmon spawners from the rivers of the Baltic Sea coast. The interdisciplinary platform allowed for fruitful discussions and creative plans for future research programmes.
