Salmon Lice provides a single volume review of the parasite Lepeophtheirus salmonis, the key parasite standing in the way of sustainable and profitable production of salmonid fishes, including salmon, trout, charr, and whitefish. Opening with a review of the biology, morphology, life cycle, and larval behavior of this parasite, Salmon Lice, then proceeds to review the distribution of planktonic larvae of salmon lice and addresses management techniques used in salmonid aquaculture and capture fisheries providing a practical assessment of the salmon lice issue, and exploring potential solutions to the problem. Conference presentations - instructions

Oral presentations

Oral presentations will be made in specific sessions, some of which will be introduced by a keynote. The total time allocated to each presentation is 12 minutes, but you should allow 2-3 minutes of these for discussion. For much of the time, there will be parallel sessions located in rooms in the same conference area, but it will be very easy to move between rooms. Therefore, it is essential that speakers keep to the time schedule and do not exceed the time allocated. Chairpersons will be under strict instruction to stop any presentation that is running over time.  The use of video equipment is not allowed.

Poster presentations

Posters will be grouped, where possible, according to subject. Please note that prizes for the best three posters – as judged by their succinctness and clarity, conciseness and general ‘appeal’ – will be awarded during the banquet. As poster boards will NOT EXCEED 90 cm (width) X 100 cm (height) size, posters should be prepared to fit this size, in a ‘portrait’ format. You are also encouraged to bring with you A4 copies of your poster presentation in order to facilitate the distribution of the information to interested delegates. Please, note that posters should be mounted on Monday morning and removed on Thursday after lunch.

Frank Hetrick

Dr. Frank Hetrick sadly passed away on the 5th June.   Frank was a professor at the University of Maryland (College Park) and he was truly one of the great fish health microbiologists.  His research greatly advanced our knowledge of fish virology.  His friendship was one of those things in life that is truly treasured.  Condolences may be expressed to his wife, Norma, at 844 Woodmont Road, Annapolis, MD  21401-6910.
